NEW YEAR CSLL ‘Lettuce Get Together’

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM CSLL!!

Seed Library Cloud

Chico Seed Lending Library (CSLL) is hosting our ‘Lettuce Get Together’ event THURSDAY, January 7th from 4:30 – 7:30pm. We will meet in the meeting room of the Chico Branch of the Butte County Library (1108 Sherman Ave. Chico, CA).

Our January monthly event kicks off the New Year with our new extended time (4:30 – 7:30pm) which includes season-based gardening information and a CSLL orientation!

  • We will begin this month with a brief discussion provided by Cultivating Community North Valley (CCNV) about “What Is a Scion?”. This plant propagation discussion is in anticipation of the inclusion of a Scion Swap at the 7th Annual Seed Swap on January 30th. There is also a Fruit Tree Grafting workshop on January 11th from 1-4pm at Jarvis Senior Apartments, 2001 Notre Dame Blvd hosted by CCNV. [For more information about the grafting workshop contact Colleen Wofchuck at (239) 272-9661.]
  • Then we will hold our first official Seed Library Orientation for all those who are new or would like to know more about how to best utilize CSLL. We will provide you with information about how our seed borrowing system works, our different levels of seed saving expertise for returning or donating true to type seed and how to advance your knowledge of seed saving in general.
  • And lastly while we package up seeds for our seed inventory we will talk about responsible seed companies, share catalogs, and chat about the up-and-coming 7th Annual Seed Swap.

You can now view CSLL’s full 2016 ‘LGT’ schedule online!

Keep in mind that at each and every ‘Lettuce Get Together’ you are able to:

  • Become a member of CSLL (the only requirement is to be an existing library card holder; if you’re not it’s free and easy to do!)
  • CSLL Orientation to learn how to best utilize the seed library
  • Check out up to 5 seed packs per season
  • Seed saving education and discussions (discussions include timely local gardening information with CCNV)
  • Package up diverse seed varieties

We hope to see you at our next ‘Lettuce Get Together’!!

In Seedy Abundance,
~The Chico Seed Lending Library Team
Sherri Scott, Jane Hirtel, Joan Bosque, Stephanie Ladwig-Cooper and Sarah Vantrease
